When it comes to campers, the quality of the journey matters just as much as the destination. Any seasoned traveler will want a camping trailer that is aerodynamic, easy to tow, and has low energy consumption. South Korean brand Polydrops recently unveiled their P21 camper, which not only fits these requirements but can also comfortably house a family of four.

The P21 is a roomy camper measuring 21 feet in length, with a full-size bed and an optional children's bed as well. It features ample storage room, including cleverly placed compartments and overhead bins to maximize space in the limited area. It can also be upgraded to feature a cooking station complete with a microwave and induction stovetop, allowing you to cook from the comfort of your home on wheels. A sanitation unit with a sink, shower, and portable toilet can be added for an additional fee.

From above, the shape of the camper more closely resembles a small boat rather than a trailer, and this is due to the wedge-shaped edges that taper off into a point. This unique design allows the P21 to slice through the air, making it easy to pull behind a car. The trailer also boasts a state-of-the-art suspension system, ensuring that you will be in for a smooth ride regardless of even or bumpy terrain. Weighing in between 1,500 and 2,000 pounds, the P21 is lightweight enough to be pulled behind both SUVs and sedans and works with electric and gas-powered vehicles.

In addition to being practical, the P21 is equally environmentally friendly. It is entirely electric and runs off a battery that can be recharged through the 1300W solar panel covering the trailer's roof. The electric system is highly efficient and quiet, ensuring that you can get a restful night's sleep while the camper recharges.

The P21 is currently available for pre-order on Polydrops' website, with the base price starting at $38,900. A $100 security deposit is also required to place a pre-order.

The Polydrops P21 is a roomy, aerodynamic camper capable of fitting a family of four.

These days, cities are teeming with people, lights, and sounds, making it easy to feel completely cut off from the natural world. Folks are eager to get back to nature, albeit with modern-day conveniences. At the same time, RVs require more fuel and produce more emissions than sustainability-minded campers prefer. That's where the Bowlus Rivet comes in. The Bowlus Rivet is a luxury camper that pairs an aeronautic-inspired design with green technology to create an RV that makes glamping easier than ever before.

In the 1930s, aerospace engineer Hawley Bowlus designed the Road Chief, which became the inspiration for the Airstream. Featuring a Streamline Moderne aesthetic, the aerodynamic trailers made camping more appealing to Depression-era Americans. Eighty years later, Road Chiefs have become collector's items and entrepreneur Geneva Long was inspired to resuscitate the Bowlus brand name. Today's iteration of the Bowlus brand is once again using forward-thinking design for a luxury RV that is both more sophisticated-looking and sustainable than its competition.

The average 25-foot RV weighs at least 6,000 pounds. Only a few models of trucks have enough towing capacity for them. However, the 25.3-foot Rivet weighs only 2,800 pounds, partly thanks to its aircraft-inspired aluminum monocoque design. Its light weight paired with its low center of gravity allow a much wider range of autos to tow the RV. Even electric vehicles (EVs) can tow the Rivet, reducing the chance that buyers will need another car when they purchase it. Conveniently, the Rivet is   capable of self-propulsion and has a battery that can provide over 8 kilowatt-hours.

Bowlus also features AeroSolar™ panels, which provide solar power to the battery, meaning one could live off-grid indefinitely in a Rivet. With this power, campers can charge their EV or just live off-grid while still having access to WiFi and temperature control. There's no need for campers to bring an extra generator in order to enjoy modern-day amenities. The self-propelling technology, referred to as AeroMove™ makes the Rivet simple to drive up steep slopes or turn around 360° so that even casual glampers can enjoy hard-to-reach campsites.

Inside the Rivet, its sleek design allows for a king-sized bed in the main bedroom, as well as seating areas that convert to two extra twin beds, leaving room for the entire family. The sleek onyx and wood design are Instagram-ready for those who want to come back to stylish comfort after a long day exploring the great outdoors.

The Bowlus Rivet is now available for pre-order starting at $148,500 through its website.

The Bowlus Rivet is a camping trailer for sustainably-minded people who also like a little luxury.

It doesn't get much more classic than the teardrop camper. Thanks to their sleek appearance and timeless look, it is no wonder that they have become such a hit for explorers and travelers. A recent model from the Australian company Kimberly Kampers re-imagines the classic design by giving it a luxurious edge.

The Kube comes outfitted with a stainless steel outside kitchen and a private shower, giving the vehicle a comfortable, familiar feeling. Other amenities include a spacious cabin that can fit two adults, as well as a roomy king sized bed. It also includes hot water and a heater system, ensuring comfortable nights of sleeping that aren't too cold. In case you get hungry, there is also a small fridge in the cabin that is only an arm's length away from the bed.

The camper also features a large awning that can be deployed in less than three minutes. Additionally, the entire camper does not need to be set up to access the full kitchen, which means that making a quick lunch while you're on the go is a minor undertaking. The Kube is also extremely lightweight, weighing approximately 1,110 kilograms (or about 2,447 pounds), as opposed other teardrop camper trailers of this caliber that could weigh up to 3,200 pounds. It is equipped with a state-of-the-art brake system that has twice the stopping power of an average braking system.

The Kube starts at AU$68,525 (approximately US$45,000), but can be more expensive if you decide to upgrade it.

Whether it is used or new, there's a lot to keep in mind when buying a car. The model, year, and mileage and are all important factor to consider. While color may be a superficial aspect compared to the functionality, the shade of the car is often the first thing others will notice about your vehicle—just ask anyone hailing an Uber of Lyft. Visual Capitalist created a graphic based on automotive research tool I See Cars‘ report about the most popular car colors in the U.S. in 2023, and the results go further than a simple color choice.

Leading the pack is white at 26%. According to some users, this color is favored for keeping vehicles cooler in sunny areas, as well as needing lower maintenance when it comes to minor scratches—making them ideal for fleets. Next in the lineup is black at 22%, and close behind are two similar shades, gray and the lighter shade of silver, at 19% and 12% respectively. The first vibrant color on the list is blue at 10%, followed by red at 8%.

However, while white, black, and gray shades are often preferred for practical reasons, another factor for their popularity is availability. Most car dealers only have neutral colors on hand, and requesting something different can mean a backorder, with the buyer not receiving their car for months. Many times, this results in shoppers picking whatever is readily available. The current choice of colors also speaks to the evolution of car trends. Shades like beige and gold were very popular in the late 90s and early 2000s, while they barely make up 0.6% of the car sales these days.

Altogether, neutral shades make up nearly 80% of cars on the roads today. Only time will tell if bright hues will reign at some point of the future. They would definitely bring a much needed pop of color to many big cities.

You can explore Visual Capitalist's Most popular car colors graph below.

Pebble Flow Trailer

As working remotely becomes more common, people are designing alternatives to the typical home office. California-based company Pebble has come up with the perfect solution for anyone who wants to be productive on the road, and be sustainable, too. The Pebble Flow Trailer is a luxurious and modern all-electric trailer that has everything remote workers need to take their office off-the-grid.

Measuring an impressive 25 feet long, this trailer is roomy enough for both working and living. The interior includes immersive, panoramic windows, a large, queen murphy bed in the back as well as a convertible full bed. There is a desk that can be flipped down so occupants can work at their laptop, and a kitchen for cooking on-the-go. There are also numerous tech features that make the trailer comfortable, like InstaCamp. As soon as the trailer is parked, users just have to press a button which auto-levels the vehicle, unfolds the stairs, sets the temperature, unlocks the door, and pitches the awning. When it is time to go again, you can use the Magic Hitch, in which the Pebble Flow self-aligns and hitches to the car. Despite the trailer’s size, it’s easy to tow with the dual-motor Active Propulsion Assist System, so traveling to new destinations will not only be easy but also a pleasure.

The Pebble Flow uses 45 kH LFP battery, which is the safest EV battery on the market “with the capacity to power all of the appliances and stay off-grid for up to seven days.” It can be charged at home, charging stations, as well as campgrounds. Not only that, but the trailer is also solar-powered, and will automatically collect more power on the road and when parked. Pebble also boasts that the trailer can be used as a reserve battery for homes in the case of emergencies.

You can pre-order the Pebble Flow Trailer starting at $109,000. Orders are estimated to ship before the end of 2024.

Fans of Airstream trailers are drawn to its minimalist design and sleek aesthetic. A Japanese brand called X-Cabin has created its own version, which packs a big punch despite its small size. Measuring about 15 feet in length, the X-Cabin 300 has everything travelers need for life on the road, all wrapped up in an elegant steel exterior.

The inspiration for this compact trailer comes from airplane and ship cabins. Not only is the X-Cabin 300 small in dimension (15 feet by 7 feet by 7 feet), but it is also relatively lightweight at about 1,600 pounds. As a result, the trailer is easy for most cars to pull on the road and it’s a versatile option for traveling.

X-Cabin decked out the interior of the trailer in wood with the option of adding different amenities, such as beds, sinks, and stoves. There are three different configurations at increasing price points. The basic model is priced at $39,304 and includes seating and table surfaces without a bedroom option. For a couple thousand more, the X-Cabin 300 GLAMP includes benches and a dining table that can be converted into a sleeping platform. The most luxurious option is the X-Cabin 300 SOLO at $48,792, which features a proper bed in addition to the compact counter space.

While the X-Cabin advertises itself for outdoor retreats and excursions, it also offers a commercial option. The X-Cabin 300 FT features the same steel exterior but lacks the seating or sleeping options inside. Instead, it is sparingly designed so it can be used as a food truck or other mobile service.

You can purchase this glamorous trailer from X-Cabin's store starting at $39,304.

Alef Aeronautics Flying Car

A flying car might seem like something straight out of a retro science-fiction movie, but there are a lot of companies that are actively working to make it a reality. One of those companies is Alef Aeronautics, which recently debuted its Model A prototype at the Detroit Auto Show. In July, the electric vehicle was approved for flight testing by the Federal Aviation Administration and is currently for pre-sale.

While there was not a flight demonstration in Detroit, Alef did show off the car's sleek design. Model A is a drivable car that can take off vertically, allowing drivers to decide whether they want to take their journey on land or by air. A lightweight carbon-fiber mesh sits across the top of the vehicle, encasing its eight propellers and allowing for airflow. The underbody houses four wheels, each powered by its own motor.

These design choices make the Model A visually similar to a very modern sports car, which contrasts with the airplane look of the flying cars competitors are working on. Size-wise, it compares to an SUV, so it won't be a problem to park in a garage or parking space. These characteristics are deliberate choices for Alef Aeronautics, as the firm wanted to make a flying car that could fit into the existing urban infrastructure.

Alef's inaugural model has a driving range of 200 miles and a flight range of 110 miles. With a presale price tag of $300,000, the Model A is geared for wealthy tech enthusiasts who want to be early adopters. But the company is already looking at ways to drop the price tag with their second flying vehicle, a four-person sedan. This Model Z won't be introduced until 2035, but comes with a significant price drop. Alef is estimating a price of $35,000 for those who can hold out.

And waiting might not be a bad idea, as it's still unclear what type of certification one would need to lift off in the Model A. Alef founder and CEO Jim Dukhovny said that he could teach someone how to drive and fly the vehicle in “15 minutes or less,” and stated that “if you can tell the difference between the right, left, up, down, front and back, you can do this.” There is currently no standard license to operate something of this nature.

NASA is already thinking about a future where flying cars and drones occupy the skies. They've been actively working on a “highway in the sky” for some time, but legislation will still need to keep pace with technology. In the meantime, Alef Aeronautics will keep perfecting its prototype as it aims to deliver the first Model A flying vehicles to consumers during the last quarter of 2025.

The tiny car actually fits into the category of electric quadricycle, meaning that drivers in Italy and France have to be just 14 years old to take the Topolino for a spin. While it's only capable of going up to 28 mph and a distance of 47 miles, its compact design makes it ideal for short commutes around the town without having to worry about squeezing into that tight parking space.

One of the best features of this golf cart-like vehicle is its electric design. Fiat made it so that the car can be charged in any outlet, requiring just four hours to reach a full charge. There are also two options for the Topolino. One offers the car with real matching doors and a closed roof sunblind, and the other is “open,” meaning instead of doors, it has rope barriers. The car also comes with a variety of matching accessories, including a USB-powered fan, a Bluetooth speaker, and a thermal water bottle for both hot and cold beverages. Additionally, the two seat covers can be used as beach towels and there's a rack that comes with a matching bag.

The Topolino will be available for $10,770 in Italy.

How low can you go? That's the question this outrageously low car seems to answer. Carmagheddon, an Italy-based car modifier collective, set their minds on building the world’s lowest drivable car. The result is a tongue-in-cheek creation that tests what makes a car, well, a car.

To create this very low low-rider, the team of Cocchi Rudi—Matteo Marzetti and Nicola Guadagnin—cut a Fiat Panda in half. They then turned the upper part into a hilarious yet impressive vehicle that can work like any other vehicle on the road. To make this project come true, the designers installed a go-kart-sized vehicle frame within the Fiat Panda. Under the hood of the car—or what remains of it—they added tiny wheels that are just tall enough to keep the metal from grazing the road.

So how do you drive this extremely low low-rider? Carmagheddon added a steering wheel that's closer to a video game controller. Whoever is driving the vehicle must crawl to get inside and stay on their knees or on their side for the whole ride. Looking out the windshield doesn't look like an option, as the conductor in the test rides is seen looking at the road through his phone, placed on the bottom of the vehicle.

The modified Fiat Panda was tested on both gravel roads and concrete streets, and it is a testament to the designers' vision that it drives smoothly, though slowly, on both. As ingenious as the result is, the small automobile can't help but look like a vehicle submerged in the asphalt or a car carcass on the loose.

If you want to take a closer look at their building process, scroll down to watch two videos from Carmagheddon about how this low-rider came to be. To stay up to date with their wild creations, you can follow them on Instagram.
